How to make a bootable USB flash drive Windows 7 and Windows 8

A multiboot flash drive that has several operating systems on board at once, for example, Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8, is a very useful tool that any modern user should have in reserve. In this article I will tell and show how to do it.

How to create a bootable USB flash drive containing two or more operating systems. I will describe the easiest way using the free program WinSetupFromUSB. This program is free, copy the name and enter in the search bar, after which you will get to the official website, and download it there. You can also read about the bootable USB flash drive and installing Windows in this article, I recently wrote about this, also a good and easy way.

Using WinSetupFromUSB, you can record not only several operating systems, but also a set of the most important utilities. As a result, a boot device for all occasions. We will start creating such a flash drive a little later, and now prepare a flash drive for recording the two most popular systems – Windows 7 and 8.1.

You will need a flash drive of eight gigabytes or more. Since I used the original images of Windows 7 and 8.1 Professional 64-bit, I had enough memory in 8 GB.

We will use the latest version of the program, which can be downloaded from the official site. At the time of writing, the current version of WinSetupFromUSB 1.4. Download!

Go to downloads and click on the program shortcut. Files are extracted to the WinSetupFromUSB-1-4 folder. Open the folder and see the following.

I need a multiboot flash drive with Windows 7 (64 bit) and Windows 8.1 (64 bit), so I run WinSetupFromUSB_1-3_x64.exe. If you need a flash drive with 32 bit versions of Windows, then run the first file.

Next, we make the following settings. Be extremely careful !!

We mark the item “Vista / 7/8 / Server 2008/2012 based ISO” and click on the button on the right, where in the explorer window that opens, specify the path to the operating system image. First, I will burn Windows 7 (x64).

If such a warning appears, then boldly ignore clicking OK!

Everything is ready for recording !!! Once again, verify the settings and press GO.

The next two windows are also boldly ignored by clicking YES.

The record has gone! You can tear yourself away from the monitor and have a cup of coffee.

It happened! Click OK and start recording the next operating system. Next, I wrote down Windows 8.1 (64bit).

Run the program again. We make sure that our USB flash drive is indicated in the “USB disk selection” field. We mark the item “Vista / 7/8 / Server 2008/2012 based ISO” and indicate the path to the image of the Windows 8.1 operating system.

ATTENTION !! The item “Auto format it with FBinst” DOES NOT BE MARKED!

Once again, check the settings and click GO!

A multiboot flash drive with two operating systems is ready !!

If you are installing Windows 7, then the USB flash drive must be inserted into the USB port 2.0. The USB 3.0 ports are blue, and the Windows 7 installer will not see them.

We reboot the computer and, using the hot keys, when the system wakes up, select the boot priority. I will give an example of hot keys for various models of laptops and computers.

Hit Enter and wait for the GRUB4DOS bootloader window. Select the first option 0 Windows NT6 (Vista / 7 and above) Setup and press Enter.

Choose the operating system that you want to install at the moment.

Next, as usual, the installation process of the operating system will begin. If you have questions – ask, I am always happy to answer.
